7 years ago I suffered extreme burnout.
I felt like everyone needed me, yet there wasn’t enough of me to go around.
It was a balancing act of having two full time jobs: being a VP at a $700M male dominated global company and being a mommy. The type-A perfectionist in me was trying to give 100% of myself to everyone and everything. I found myself ending every day physically and mentally drained, and in tears.
I wasn’t doing anything well.
If I was killing it at work, my home life was a disaster. If my home life was amazing, I felt like I was majorly slacking at my job and competing against all of my other “non-parent” co-workers while feeling shame for having to take off my for kid’s doctor appointments or school events.
On paper “I had it all” …yet the truth was I was exhausted.
Tired of being mentally drained
Tired of feeling guilty all of the time
Tired of getting up super early or working super late to "fit it all in”
Tired of the good ol'boys club and non-parents who don’t understand your kids will always be top priority.
I knew I need to find a new system, and a new way of working and prioritizing
